My desire to save the world from social ills grows stronger by the minute. I keep getting tripped up, though.
What can this white girl from Vermont do about intimate partner violence in the immigrant communities of Hawaii? What could I even do about it in Vermont?
The more overwhelming the problems seem, the more I want to get involved and solve them. But then I sit alone in my office, no one having any idea what I'm working on, and I lose steam. I think there's no way I could affect change all by myself.
Maybe I just need to keep remembering that story of the patent clerk in Switzerland.
