Standing

I want to stand in a hospital in the dirtiest, most rural place Africa and create a system for counting. Counting births, counting deaths, counting the number of times a syringe is thrown on the floor.

And I want to stand in a field in Vermont, two or five dogs in my company, completing a farm task assigned to me by my brother. Weeding potatoes, digging holes, harvesting zucchinis.

And I want to stand on my surfboard in the Pacific Ocean, off the south coast of Oahu, and watch the shore come closer. Paddling out, floating around, and riding in, all again and again.
